Dear Families,
The following information will hopefully answer some of your
questions about our classroom. If you have additional questions, I can
be reached at home or school (324-5540).
Thank you so much for visiting our class website! Mrs. Burkhalter
Homework
Each day your child will be given assignments at school. It is your child's responsibility to complete each assignment in a timely manner and by the due date. Any assignment not completed in class will become homework. Ocassionally a student will have an out of class assignment, but rarely. Some assignments will require more than one day of working. In this instance, this will be determined by a conversation between teacher and student. When a student misses school, he or she will need to stay after school in homework club until made up assignments are complete.
Lunch
to see what is for breakfast or lunch today, click here.
Students have the option of cold or hot lunch. A cold
lunch is one that you pack at home and send to school or the hot lunch
is the cafeteria. Each child has a "lunch number" which he/she
will learn as his ID number. This identifies balance, library
checkout, and lunch tracking. All lunch money is handled in the
office with Mrs. Niederdeppe.
Family Members for Lunch
Family
members are always welcome to join us for lunch. Please call Mrs. Macias
in the office (324-5540) or send a note to school to let us know if you
are planning to eat hot lunch.

Book Orders
About
once a month, you will receive a book order form from SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUBS. These book orders
offer very reasonable prices for children's literature. If you would
like to order, please send cash or a check (made out to SCHOLASTIC) in
an envelope with your child's name on the front. If your purchases are
for gifts, please let me know and I will hold them for you at school
until you can pick them up.
Volunteers
(Why is this important?)
Volunteers are welcome and encouraged. If
you feel you have the time and are willing to spend some time in the
classroom, please don't hesitate to contact me. However, our school has a policy that any volunteers must pass a background check inorder to work with parents.

Holiday Celebrations and Birthdays
We
will recognize some holidays in our classroom. We will have a harvest celebration at the end of October.
We will celebrate Christmas, and Valentine's Day.
We love to celebrate birthdays! If you
would like to send a treat or something special to share, please
do. We try and emphasize healthful living and snacking, so please
keep your treats to things like apples, celery, raisins, or other
creative healthy snacks. Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, or
cake. These treats do not promote healthy choices and can
be both dangerous and messy in the classroom. Any unhealthy snack will not be served at school.
Thank you! Mrs. Burkhalter
