Math Fun
Sit down with your family or friends and play some fun math
games! Enjoy challenging yourself while becoming a whiz kid.
Dice Addition
Each player rolls two dice and says aloud the addition
sentence. For example if a player rolls a 3 and 4, the player
says, "Three plus four equals seven," and passes the dice quickly to
the next player. One player writes down the sum (7) as the
score. Continue to play quickly for one minute. Challenge
yourself by chanting the scores at the end. Each time you play,
try to beat your best
score.
Roll Away!
Domino 9 Multiplication
Turn all dominoes face
down. Each player turns over a domino and says aloud the
multiplication sentence. For example if a player turns over the
7-9, the player says, "Seven times nine equals sixty-three." The
next player then turns over a domino. No player may pick up the
domino, hold it, or turn it back over. One player writes down the
product (63) as the score. Continue for one minute and add up
scores for the total.
Adding and Subtracting On
Deal seven cards from a deck of cards to each player. Ace
equals 1 or 11, Number cards equal face value. All other cards
equal 10. Each player turns over the seven cards one at a
time. The whole group chants, adding the black cards and
subtracting the red cards, "Seven plus three equals ten, minus nine
equals one, plus five equals six, minus eight equals negative two,
etc.) One player writes down the result of each player's cards as
the score. At the end of a round of three players, deal new cards
to each player and continue.
