The Four Blocks: Guided Reading, Writing, Self-Selected Reading, and Working with Words
Guided Reading - This block exposes children to a wide range of literature experiences with a focus on building comprehension.
Writing - The children develop their writing skills through mini-lessons as well as through focused and self-selected writing.
Self-Selected
Reading - The children have the treat of listening to a read-aloud and
opportunities to read self-selected books at their level.
Working With Words - This block empowers children to read
and spell words through interactive activities that build phonemic
awareness and help children apply phonics.
