Lexington, Nebraska
Lexington, Nebraska was established in the year of 1866 but the town was known as Plum Creek. Plum Creek became a post office in 1872. Two years after that Plum Creek became a town. The people of the town wanted to change the name due to the confusion with Elm Creek. The town of Elm Creek was only 18 miles away. The people of Plum Creek came up with the name of Lexington in February of 1889. The city officials said yes to the name. The mascot of Lexington High School is a Minuteman.
