Shirley Trautman Memorial Scholarship
Description
Shirley Trautman was an instructor in the Lexington School Systems
Special Needs Program for 24 years. A $500 scholarship has been
established through donations given in her memory. This
scholarship may be used at any post-secondary accredited school.
Qualifications
The Shirley Trautman Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a
Lexington High School graduating senior who has overcome a school
verified learning disability through assistance in a special need
program.
Any student that is planning on becoming a special needs teacher will
also be considered for this scholarship. The recipient should
have a grade point average of 2.5 or better based on 4.0 grading.
Instructions
Each applicant should complete the common application. Please
submit a three letters of recommendation. Two are
to be completed by the applicant≠s past and/or current
instructors. The third is to be completed by an adult (outside
the school) other than a relative.
Please include with your application a sentence that
identifys the learning disability that the student had during their
school years.
Students that are planning on becoming a special needs teacher, should
list where they plan on attending college.
The Shirley Trautman Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at the Lexington High School Honors Night.
Payment
This scholarship will be paid after completion of the first semester or
term of the freshman year with a grade point average of 2.5 or better
based on 4.0 grading.
