LIONS INTERNATIONAL

Description

This scholarship fund has been established by the Lexington Chapter of Lions International, an organization interested in youth and the importance of the continuing educational process.

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has made plans for further education and training at an accredited community college or four year college or university .  This $500 award will be divided into two payments of $250 at the beginning of the first and second semesters of attendance at the school of the recipient≠s choice.

Qualifications

The applicants will be judged on their scholastic record, the pursuit of a degree at a college or community college, participation in extracurricular and community activities.  Consideration will also be given to the financial need and/or the presence of a sight handicap of the individual, but they will not be of prime importance. 

Instructions To The Applicant

Fill out the common application.  Submit  three letters of recommendation.  Two are to be filed out by teachers, and the third one to be filled out by any other person designated by you other than a teacher.  A recent photograph should be submitted with the application.

A committee, chosen by the local Lexington Lions Club, will judge the applications and select the winner and alternates.  The scholarship will be awarded at the annual honors convocation at the high school.
