2008
THE
LEXINGTON AMERICAN LEGION will present their
scholarship to a
senior who is planning to further his or her education beyond high
school. The scholarship is for $500 to be paid upon
successful
completion of the first semester and registration for the 2nd
semester. You will be judged on scholarship, citizenship, and
finances.
THE
LEXINGTON ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP was established by the
Athletic Booster Club to honor one male and one female graduating
Lexington High School athlete. Each scholarship is
$1,200.
Recipients must have participated in at least two athletic activities
each year grades 9-12. Consideration will also be given to
participation in extra-curricular activities and leadership skills
displayed through community involvement.
REGINA K. ARAUJO MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
- The Regina K. Araujo Memorial Scholarship was
established in the
memory of Regina Araujo. Regina was an outstanding student at
Lexington High School who displayed a wonderful sense of humor,
acceptance of others and a drive for academic excellence. The
scholarship is for $500.00.
THE
RENEE BEANS MEMORIAL will
be presented to a senior who is planning to enter the medical career
field. This could be nursing, technology, medicine, therapy
or
any other allied field. You must rank in the upper 1/2 of
your
class to qualify for this $500 scholarship, which will be paid upon
proof of registration and acceptance at a school that offers these
programs. You will be judged on your scholarship and
citizenship
during high school.
BETH AND BOB TALLON MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to any senior who is planning
on attending college or community college upon graduation.
Consideration for this scholarship is open to any senior who shows good
character, leadership, work ethic, and financial aid. The
student needs to be a good student but does have to be the top student
in the class. The amount of the scholarship is $1,200 and 3
scholarships will be given. THE BONNIE BRECKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP has been established in the memory of Bonnie Brecks. Bonnie was a high school activities secretary who worked for many years for the Lexington Public Schools and Lexington High School. She had a great love h THE RICHARD A. BROWN
SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a senior
who has participated in the wrestling program throughout their high
school years. You must be planning to enter college or any
other
tech school and be registered and accepted at that school.
The
amount of this scholarship is $500, which will be paid upon successful
completion of 1st semester and proof of registration for the
2nd
semester. You must be present at Senior Honor
night.
THE LEXINGTON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
is being presented
to a graduating senior who is planning to further their education
beyond high school. This scholarship is for $1,000, which is
to
be used for enrollment at the school of the recipients
choice.
Applicant will be judged on their overall areas of academics, school, and community activities. The major area we will evaluate is a students work experience during high school. One letter of reference should come from the students employee or business internship.
COZAD STATE BANK-PLUM CREEK
BRANCH
is offering
a $500 scholarship to a
graduating senior who plans to be a Journalism major in college. Other
students that are planning on attending college will be considered.
This scholarship will be paid upon successful completion of 1st
semester classes and proof of registration for 2nd
semester.
LEXINGTON COSMOS SCHOLARSHIP is offering three (3) $1,000 scholarships to be given to any high school senior who shows qualities of good character, work ethic, citizenship and financial need.
THE
DYKE SCHOLARSHIP is presented to a
senior by the LHS Student Council in
honor of their former sponsor, Mr. Bob Dyke. This scholarship
will be given to a student who ranks in the upper 1/2 of their class
and has demonstrated leadership skills and good citizenship during
their high school years. You may use this scholarship at any
school of your choice. This scholarship is $500.
Financial
need will be considered but will not be a top
priority.
THE ALLEN EASTERDAY
AGRICULTURAL-MECHANICAL SCHOLARSHIPThis
scholarship has been established in the memory of Allen Easterday.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is going to pursue
further education in either mechanics or the agriculture
field.
The student≠s mechanical ability, financial need, and interest in this
field of study will be considered. The scholarship will be
for
$500.
EASTERN STAR
AWARD-has been established by the Dawson Chapter
#33 of
Lexington and the Grand Chapter of Nebraska. The $150
scholarship
is to be used at the college or technical school of the students
choice. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who
best
exemplifies good citizenship and high moral character, without regard
to scholastic standing or parental finances. DEADLINE: APRIL
1ST.
THE JENNIE GUTIERREZ
SCHOLARSHIPwas established in honor of the life
and teaching career of Jennie Gutierrez by the Gutierrez
family.
This $500 award will be given to a Hispanic student who is planning to
further their education at a college or university, preferably in the
area of teaching or education. Other Hispanic students who
are
seeking further post secondary education may also
apply.
THE LILIAN HANSEN APPRECIATION
SCHOLARSHIP will be given to a senior
who is planning to further their education beyond high
school.
This scholarship is for $500 and will be paid upon proof of
registration and acceptance for the 1st semester. You will be
judged on the basis of character, leadership and scholastic
ability. Financial need will be considered.
THE
EUGENE HENNEK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
will be given to any 2 graduating seniors from Lexington
who are
planing to further their education at an accredited post-secondary
school. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade point
average
and be of good moral character. The student≠s participation
in
school and community activities, future goals, financial need and
scholastic record will all be considered. The amount of this
scholarship will be $500. It will be paid upon successful
completion of the first semester at the school of the recipient≠s
choice.
THE
JOHN HIGGINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a senior who has participated in at least two
sports during their high school years in our extra curricular
program. This scholarship is for the amount of
$500. You
will be judged on your leadership, character, participation, and
scholastic record. Financial need will be given some
consideration.
THE LIONS INTERNATIONAL
SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a senior who
is planning to pursue a degree in a post secondary educational
institution. The amount of this scholarship is $500, to be
paid
upon the successful completion for the 1st semester. Any
graduating senior may apply and you will be judged in the areas of
scholarship, citizenship, financial need. Some extra
consideration will be given to a person who is planning a career that
includes working with handicapped, but this in not of prime
importance.
THE KAREN MCCAN BOOSTER/SPIRIT
SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a
senior who has participated in Band, Drill Team, Flag Corp or
Cheerleading. This scholarship will be given to a person who
is
active in supporting school spirit through these school
activities. This scholarship is for $1,000 and will be paid
upon
completion of your 1st semester.
THE JAMES D.
MILLER SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a high
school senior
who is a child of a
farm/ranch family that is still active in some area of
agriculture. Preference may be given to
students
enrolled
in The University of Nebraska -Lincoln College of Agricultural
Sciencess, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis or
other post secondary schools leading to a career in
agriculture.
The amount of this scholarship is $2,000 and is renewable up to four
years.
THE JULIE MILLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
the scholarship in the amount of $500
is renewable for up to four years, making the total scholarship value
$2,000. Any graduating senior from Lexington High School who
is
planning to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary
school may apply. Applicants should rank in the upper 1/3 of
the
class, show qualities of good character and leadership, academic
achievement, and participation in extra-curricular and community
activities.
THE KAY LINCH MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established by the family of Kay Linch.
This
scholarship will be awarded to a student who enrolls in any university,
college, or technical school in a public service field of study. Areas of public service
may
include, but are not limited to, law enforcement education,
firefighting, and nursing. Consideration for this scholarship
will be given to any graduating senior who shows qualities of good
character, leadership, academic achievement, financial need and
participation in extra-curricular and community activites.
The
value of the scholarship is $500.
THE RON MURDOCK UNL SCHOLARSHIP
will
be presented to a Lexington High School senior who will
attend
UNL. The student needs a GPA of 3.00 and be
able to demonstrate financial need. Other criteria that will
be
considered are:involvement in community service, school activities,
desire to learn and be self motivated.The
scholarship amount will be around $600-700
depending on interest..
THE LEXINGTON NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
SCHOLARSHIP was established to
recognize An outstanding member of the Lexington National Honor
Society. The student must be a member in good standing in the
National Honor Society,The scholarship will be in the amount of
$300.
THE
RAYMOND (IKE) NEFF SCHOLARSHIP will be presented to a senior who is planning to attend
any school of
their choice beyond high school. You will be judged on your
ability to do further work and on your financial ability to pay for
this additional education. This scholarship for $500 will be
paid
upon proof of registration and acceptance for the 1st
semester.
THE LEXINGTON OPTIMISTS SCHOLARSHIP
is a scholarship to be
presented to two seniors who are planning to further their education at
an accredited post secondary institution. The amount of the
scholarships are $1,000. One scholarship can be used at any
college or university and the other scholarship should be used at a two
year or technical college. Payment will be made upon the
successful completion of 1st semester classes. Applicants
will be
judged on community involvement, service to youth , leadership,
character and citizenship.
THE
LEXINGTON PLUMCREEKERS KIWANIS CLUB will present
the GENE RANSDELL
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP to a senior who is planning to attend a
Vocational Technical School. The amount of the scholarship is
$500 payable to the technical school of your choice. If you
however attend Central Technical College at Hastings, the College
Foundation will match this amount so the scholarship will be for
$1000. Applicants will be judged on the quality of their
ability
to express and describe their future goals and plans and their attached
letters of recommendation. You must be of sound moral
character
and a credit to your school and community. 1/2 of this
scholarship will be paid at the beginning of each semester depending on
successful registration and grades.
NORMAN W. AND
SHIRLEY A. REYNOLDS SCHOLARSHIP will be
presented to
a senior who exhibits good citizenship skills and has earned three
varsity letters in any extra-curricular or co-curricular activities
during their freshman through senior years at Lexington High
school. The amount of the scholarship is $750.00,
THE
RUTH EDNA REYNOLDS MONTGOMERY MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
will be presented to a senior
who is going into the educational field
or into missionary work. Others will be considered and the
best
qualified candidate will be chosen for this award. This
scholarship will be based on the amount of interest that has
accrued, not to exceed $750. Applicants will be judged
on
leadership, character, and service to the school and community as well
as scholastic ability to do college work. This scholarship
will be paid upon acceptance and proof of registration for the 1st
semester at the school of choice.
THE L.E.A.
ROBINSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be presented by the Lexington Education Association
to a senior
who is planning to pursue an education degree in the field of
education. The scholarship is $750. Applicants will
be
judged on leadership, character, people skills, and moral
character. Twp scholarships will be given this
year.
THE LEXINGTON
ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIPwill be presented to a
senior who
is planning to further their education beyond high school.
There
will be three scholarships. Each scholarship will be for
$1000. The 3rd scholarship will be $1000 and the student must
be
enrolled at a Technical College. Any senior may apply for
this
scholarship and you will be judged on your scholarship and
citizenship.
THE
LEXINGTON SOROPTIMISTS
will
present a scholarship to a senior who is planning to go on to school
beyond high school. This scholarship is for $500 to be used
for
enrollment at any school of choice. Any graduating senior may
apply. You will be judged on the qualities of
scholarship,
citizenship and financial need.
THE SHIRLEY TRAUTMAN
SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to a Lexington High
School graduating senior who has overcome a learning difficulty through
assistance in a special need program. A students who is
planning
on becoming a special needs teacher are also elgible to
apply.
The $500 scholarship will be paid after completion of the first
semester or term of the freshman year with a grade point average of 2.5
or better based on 4.0 grading.
THE
LEXINGTON VFW will present
a scholarship to a senior who is planning to continue
education
beyond high school. This scholarship is for $500.
You must
be a graduating senior whose parent is a Veteran of the Armed
Services. You will be judged on the qualities of
scholarship, citizenship and financial need.
THE CHARLES
A. WALKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP will be presented
to a
senior to help them further their education at any accredited
school. Special consideration will be given for a student
going
into the field of agriculture. This scholarship is open to
any
senior who can demonstrate good character, extra-curricular
participation and a good scholastic record. The scholarship
is
$500. Three scholarships will be awarded.
