Windy Acres Elementary School, formerly known as Dawson County District 17, was assimilated into the Lexington Public School District as a result of LB126, which abolished Class 1 school districts throughout Nebraska. Windy Acres became part of the Lexington system prior to the beginning of the 2006-07 school term. The school is located in a rural area five miles east of Lexington. Windy Acres serves children in grades K through five in three multi-grade classrooms, K-1, 2-3, 4-5.
